Guitar Secrets - Do They Really Exist?

Are there such things as guitar secrets? No doubt you have come across many of the online guitar products that promise you the earth, how to become a professional guitarist in six weeks, or claims like "learn the secrets that the pros don't want you to know! So the question is, are there any secrets about learning guitar, that are holding you back if you don't know them. In short, the answer is simple. No, not any!

I can categorically promise you right here and now, it's all a complete load of nonsense, do not waste your money on this utter rubbish. There are no secrets to guitar playing. Never have been and never will be. If you have been playing guitar for a while and are still finding it difficult then the problem is very simple. You are doing it wrong.

I don't know the statistics but I do know that a large percentage of amateur guitarists never seem to go any further than basic chords and maybe delve lightly into lead guitar playing. Of all the beginners and amateurs I know of, they all struggle for the same reasons. They either aren't disciplined enough, aren't really interested enough, or are too busy trying to take shortcuts. Some also just find it all too confusing.

Learning guitar and getting better at it boils down to one very simple thing. Learn something new everyday and practice for as long as it takes to get it. Many of you will avoid learning something new because it doesn't seem a big enough challenge. Small steps are the way forward. If you constantly try to leap too far forward then you will not likely improve your guitar playing at all.

So what about these so-called secret systems? I've bought some of these out of curiosity and had some peek previews at quite a few others. I'm not going to give names of products but I'll tell you this. So far I haven't seen one that is anything more than basic guitar information that you will find in any decent book for about a quarter of the price. So beware. If a guitar learning product is making claims that sound too good to be true, either avoid it like the plague or make sure they offer a no hassle money back guarantee.

Don't get me wrong, there are some systems taught using less conventional methods that might be a good idea and work for some people, but so far, I haven't found one that pretends to be some amazing formula. Bear in mind, everything I've said above doesn't mean that these products are useless or scams. Many of them are actually quite good, just be aware they are rarely anything more than just another typical guitar tutorial. If they mention words like "miracle," "secret," "amazing undiscovered formula" and "beginner to pro in thirty days ... expect them to be nothing more than an ordinary guitar book for three times the price with far less content.
